Shilus has demonstrated experience providing Suitability Assessments for Foster Care Agencies and the Department. We are able to provide independent, professional and holistic assessments that can address issues including, but not limited to, parenting, reunification and attachment, as well as undertake complex carer and case reviews.
Our Suitability Assessments have been utilised in Children’s Court, Foster Care Panels and Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunals (QCAT), and our assessors are regularly asked to attend and provide evidence within these settings.
When conducting Suitability Assessments, our process generally includes:
- Complete file review
- Interview/s with departmental staff and case workers relevant to the case to ensure clear assessment scope
- Interview/s with all relevant stakeholders
- Comprehensive report
- Attendance at QCAT, Foster Care Panel or Children’s Court, where required
We pride ourselves on our ability to provide Suitability Assessments that are not only unbiased and comprehensive, but are conducted “through the eyes of the child”.
