Placement Preservation Services
Shilus understands the unique challenges caring for a child in out of home care presents to General Foster and Kinship Carers. Children in out of home care are more often than not exposed to trauma and/or abuse, which can then cause ongoing behavioural and emotional challenges for these children in care.
Shilus provides a range of Placement Preservation Services to help Foster Carers provide appropriate support and care to children in their home to help address and/or work with these challenges.
We can help carers with:
- Understanding trauma
- Grief and loss
- Protective behaviours
- Sexualised behaviours
- Fundamentals of parenting children of trauma and abuse
- Facilitating a child’s emotional and social development
We can deliver these training and consultancy services through either one-on-one or group-based programs in the home, at the agency or in the community.
All our transition planning and support services will follow NDIS principles, where appropriate.
